Let's Bring in the Sloths

The other day I was in a building that only had two floors. Now as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act this building had an elevator to get between the two floors. I had never really paid attention to the elevator before as I always took the stairs to get between the two floors. However, while I was standing in line waiting for my turn, I noticed many people going to the elevator. It was interesting to me because many of the people I saw using the elevator seemed perfectly healthy to me. No wheelchair, no walker, not even a limp, and yet they felt it was necessary to use this elevator. Now I have no room to talk about being lazy, because, honestly, I am as lazy as they come, but it really frustrated me that something that is necessary for some, seem to be taken as a luxury to others. The craziest part is, the elevator is actually a little out of the way compared to the stairs. You could actually get out of the building quicker by using the stairs. But didn’t stop this parade of people from making a B-line for the elevator. Maybe there should be a sign that says “FOR DISABLED ONLY”. Of course, we wouldn’t want to discriminate against the perfectly healthy now would we. But that is just one man’s opinion. Thanks for listening to me ramble. I appreciate it. See you next time.

Joy

Joy is defined as a feeling or state of well-being and contentment. Simple definition, but many people find it very difficult to have joy in their lives. If you’re reading this, though, take it from a person who has seen it, joy is not that hard to find. The biggest issue is seeking out the joyful things in life. And before you think that I am some wishy-washy “guru” with an axe to grind about not needing material things, let me just stop you right there. If material things bring you joy, then, by all means, get a few more things. I am also not going to be your doctor here. If you want to smoke that cigarette and drink that beer, then know that everyone has a crutch and every day we are living, we are slowly dying, so smoke, drink, do what makes you happy. Want to binge watch that TV show, binge; want to cook for the hell of it, cook (and donate the food to your neighbors, you might bring them some joy). Just know that in saying all this, I am not giving anyone an excuse to go off the deep end. If you can’t afford your material things, you may have to wait to get them. And if what brings you joy inevitably ends up making someone else’s life miserable, maybe find some other joy-bringer (don’t murder folks, it’s wrong any way you look at it). One of my joys comes from rambling on about topics of my interest. To reach that state of well-being and contentment, one has to accept that not everything in life is great. They have to be content with what they have available to increase their state of well-being. My hope is that with enough of these blogs, I can increase my state of well-being to the point that I am at the height of my contentment. But that is just one man’s opinion. Thanks for listening to me ramble. I appreciate it. See you next time.

Intro

I wish to start off by thanking anyone who is reading this right now. You are reading the very first entry on a blog written by a somewhat knowledgeable red-headed male with a relatable opinion. The entries in this blog are not for anyone in particular’s sake, but instead simply the rambles of someone who has gathered a little knowledge throughout their life so far and wants to talk about a different topic every week or so. However, you may ask yourself, what is a ramble? What does it mean to ramble? Well, when I was a child it was what my family called it when someone droned on about something for too long. Many times, the person never really made a point and it was just blabber. They were therefore rambling. Some of the posts on this blog may do just that. You may read it and start to wonder, “Is he ever going to get to the point?” Truth is, I may not. My hope is that my rambling makes you think and maybe I end up making a point. Either way, it will be my opinion and nothing else. So please, do not take offense, do not look too hard into it, and please, do not think that my opinion cannot be changed. I am still young and I hope that my opinion will be swayed daily so that I can keep writing new posts about different topics that come to my mind. Thanks for listening to me ramble. I appreciate it.
